logoThe Contemporary Club of Ho-Ho-Kus, Inc. is governed by the 11th District of the New Jersey Federation of Women’s Clubs (NJFWC). The NJFWC is the largest and oldest nondenominational, nonpartisan, volunteer service organization for women in the state.

The Contemporary Club hosts annual social activities and fund-raisers for several different local beneficiaries. Our annual Spring Fundraiser and Auction is our largest fund-raising event. The Club members also volunteer for Meals-On-Wheels, help to sponsor local families in need through monetary donations and award a local student with a college scholarship.

The Halloween Parade, Sweetheart Dance, and Easter Egg Hunt are longstanding traditions in town coordinated by the Club. The Contemporary Club also founded Richards’ Run HHK5K which continues to be an annual event in town.

Beyond raising funds for noteworthy causes for over 80 years, the Contemporary Club provides a viable means to meet new people in our community through our social events. Among the many events are the September Kick-off Luncheon to welcome a new year and prospective members, the Holiday PJ Party & Movie Night, Winter Socials, and the Progressive Dinner. Members can also participate in a variety of cultural activities that have included a book group and craft night. Every year, members have an opportunity to share their talents at Achievement Day during the Spring Conference sponsored by the NJFWC by entering in a variety of creative categories.

The Contemporary Club publishes a quarterly e-newsletter featured on this website. Meetings are held the first Tuesday of every month, September through May, at 7:30 pm at various locations. A special Program is often presented following the business portion of the meeting. Meetings for the Board of Trustees are held once a month in board members’ homes.

All members in good standing adhere to the following regulations:

  • Either serve on the Board of Trustees, serve on one special committee, or assist in a Club Project during the year;
  • Participate willingly and actively in all Club fundraising projects;
  • Attend the minimum of four general Club meetings during the Club year;
  • Pay dues. New members require a one-time initiation fee. Membership fees are due annually in May.

Please visit our Membership Info page for more information about dues and joining the Club!
