New Member Spotlight: Brianne Angerame and Caroline Pitchley

February 5, 2014By 0 Comments

Each month we’ll be highlighting a member of the Contemporary Club of Ho-Ho-Kus through a member profile here in the Blog section of our website.  These posts allow us to learn more about the women who comprise our club, providing a snapshot of their interests, family and life. You may discover that you worked at the same company or that you love the same restaurant for date night. Or you may be stumped by the “Two Truths and a Lie” final question. Enjoy!

1. What is/was your profession?

I have been teaching 5th grade at Roosevelt School in River Edge for 8 years.

2. What made you decide to join the Contemporary Club? What has your favorite part been thus far?

I heard about the Contemporary Club from my sister-in-law. She became a member of the Ridgewood Newcomers Club when she and my brother first moved there. She had a great experience being a part of that, so when my husband and I moved to Ho-Ho-Kus, she encouraged me to join the Contemporary Club! So far, it’s been fun meeting new people and bumping into familiar faces when I’m running errands in town. I’m starting to feel like I’m part of the community now!

3. How do you like living in HHK? Where did you live previously?

Before Chris and I moved into Ho-Ho-Kus we lived in North Bergen, NJ. Although it was great living 15 minutes from Hoboken, we were ready to leave that one bedroom apartment behind for some extra space and a backyard! We are very happy in Ho-Ho-Kus.

4. What is/are your favorite local restaurant(s) for dining?

We really like the fact that we can drive 2 minutes away form our house for a nice dinner out. Since I have Celiac, and need to be on a gluten-free diet, eating out can be challenging sometimes, but Janice’s, Kevin’s Thyme, and Cafe Amici are extremely gluten-free friendly and we love the fact they are BYOB.

5. What are some of your family’s favorite winter activities?

This is our first winter in the house, so we really have enjoyed staying in on cold Friday nights making a fire and watching a movie.  Since this is our first home, a new winter activity for us has been shoveling snow!

6. Please tell us Two Truths and One Lie about yourself…

I was on  Dateline NBC

I love to play board games

I’ve been to a rodeo in Wyoming

1. What is/was your profession?

In a previous life I was a HR Project Manager for a global investment bank. Now I’m a stay at home mom to 2 boys.

2. What made you decide to join the Contemporary Club? What has your favorite part been thus far?

To meet more locals, get more involved in the community – and get out of the house for a cocktail or two!

3. How do you like living in HHK? Where did you live previously?

Love the small feel of the town – but in some ways still adjusting to life in the suburbs! Originally from Central London, I spent my first 4 years in the US living in Jersey City – before moving to HHK in 2012.

4. What is/are your favorite local restaurant(s) for dining?

We love Janice for brunch, The Ho-Ho-Kus Sushi cafe, and recently discovered some amazingly delicious muffins in Red Cedar Market 🙂

5. What are some of your family’s favorite winter activities?

We love to ski in the winter and our eldest has been learning at Campgaw the past few weeks.

6. Please tell us Two Truths and One Lie about yourself…

– I’ve been to Buckingham Palace for afternoon tea with the Queen.

– I spent 6 months working for UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, and once wrote him a conference speech.

– I am a distant cousin of the Earl of Carnarvon, whose family seat is Highclere Castle (the setting for Downton Abbey).
