Meet Karen (and Brad!)

Each month we’ll be highlighting a member of the Contemporary Club of Ho-Ho-Kus through a member profile here in the Blog section of our website.  These posts allow us to learn more about the women who comprise our club, providing a snapshot of their interests, family and life. You may discover that you worked at the same company or that you love the same restaurant for date night.  Enjoy!

1. What is/was your profession?
I’m opening a store in Ridgewood next year.  Vintage lighting that’s restored and hand crafted to exceed its original decadent charm.  They are truly special, one-of-a-kind pieces. (I better get that description shortened before we open (ha), but a picture speaks a thousand words!)  Until then, my home has become my current showroom/studio 🙂

2. What made you decide to join the Contemporary Club? What has your favorite part been thus far?
A good friend in town encouraged me to join and I’m so grateful for all the friends I’ve made.  I’ve enjoyed helping raise money for all the great YAC events. Jake’s really enjoyed the ski camp, skating lessons, Sweetheart Dance and Halloween parade to name a few!

3. How do you like living in HHK? Where did you live previously?
We love it! We moved from Holmdel, NJ to Bergen County to get quality Autism services for our daughter, Reese and we chose Ho-Ho-Kus for the small community, so our son, Jake would feel welcomed.  His Kindergarten class made him cards for his first day and he’s been so happy ever since!

4. What is/are your favorite local restaurant(s) for dining: a. with the kids  b. for date night/girls night out?
The family likes riding bikes to HHK Inn and Tasti-d-lite!  I’ll let you  know if I ever have a date night 🙂

 5. What are your family’s plans for the summer?
Saddle River Valley Swim is our go-to spot during the week!  On the weekends, we head south to Sea Bright to enjoy our beach cabana at Surfrider.  The kids love to swim!!
